We've been lucky enough to have Craig Fellows work in the shop of interest for some time now. Last year he won the award for Best Product at the Scottish Trade Fair for his beautiful silk scarves, and purses.
We asked him a few important questions about his work and zombies.

Craig Fellows
Where are you based? And does your location influence your work?
Northampton - It’s a central location for me to travel to galleries and fairs to exhibit my work.
How would you describe your style?
Graphical and illustrative prints with carefully considered colour.
How did you get started as an artist/designer?
My professional career began whilst studying at degree level, taking opportunities to work with established designers and companies, whilst exhibiting my work in national competitions.
What did you have for breakfast?
Scrambled eggs on toast.
What music do you listen to whilst working?
I listen to radio 1 mainly, or a random selection of tracks from my hard drive usually does the job.
The Zombie apocalypse has arrived, how do you survive it? Where do you go? What do you take with you?
With a trusty baseball bat and a pair of goggles, I would head northwards because the M25 gets gridlocked on the best of days, stopping off to buy/pillage/liberate jaffa cakes, they're one of your five a day right?
What are your favourite materials and can you give us an idea of some of your creative processes?
I love working with natural fabrics like 100% silk habotai and 100% cotton lawn. My favourite fabrics that I have discovered recently are those that I can combine a devore printing process with. Devore is a technique used to burn away cellulose fibres in mixed fabrics leaving a cut through effect, leaving the remaining protein or manmade fibres intact. Usually you would use silk viscose velvet for this process but I’ve found some great new fabrics made from pineapple, bamboo or banana mixes. I’ll be sampling with them soon.
Do you have any exciting projects coming up that you can tell us about?
In my most recent sketch books I have been looking at unusual moth, caterpillar and insect cocoons. My new range of prints which I am working on at the moment will contain a few of these illustrations.

Dogs, although I don’t have one.
5 things that are inspiring you or your work just now?
* Antoni & Alison – Spring/Summer 2013 collection at London Fashion Week.
* Sea urchins & barnacles.
* Natural pastel pearlescent tones found in fossils and shells.
* Textures found in cockroach wings.
* Painting my walls at home, sitting staring at the colour brochures for hours.

The highlight of the day of course will be our very own little artist May who will be giving a workshop as her alter ego Mcg. She has gone a bit crazy with the cardboard and built something which you have to see. It's bigger than her.
